I've seen plenty of threads about people asking what drives will work in there machines, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has complied a list of drives that are compatible with the stock sleds?
There was a thread about this a few weeks ago. Believe most 4TB and under are fine. Above that is where it is questionable. OWC does sell sleds that are compatible with the new screw hole pattern.
I've seen the OWC ones and am glad they've come down in price to around $20 each. I'd rather not buy new sleds and use that cash towards better drives or something along those lines.
Also I believe there are no high capacity sleds for 1,1 and 3,1s.
I own a WD Red 6TB that can use with the original sled. The product manual from Seagate shows that BarraCuda (non Pro) 8TB also using traditional mount points.
