The brand-new macbook pro that i'm using right now has been PERFECT, until recently - the delete key has been very unresponsive. I have to press it fairly hard, or from the perfect angle, for it to work.

Any solutions to this? I'm not sure if this problem has just developed or if it always existed... and returnign the computer is the LAST thing I want to consider.

Unfortunately, I don't know.

But I'd like to know too. I have the same problem with the "P" key on my MBP. (Must be from typing "Apple" so much! :p ) Does anyone know? I know there's a way to remove a key and replace it without damaging it, but it's a special way. Googling didn't help.

Best of luck to you.

Apple stores arent the only places that can fix the computers. Check to see if there is an authorized service center near you. They will fix it for you, and since you are covered under your warranty, there won't be a charge.

Apple assumes that since you stopped buying PCs you stopped making mistakes entirely.

Me too....did you fix it?

Hi,

MacBook Pro about a month old and I have the same problem. I thought the delete key was not working at all but I realized that if you push forcefully it works. Just wondering if you were able to fix it? I am hoping an Apple store close by can fix it for me. I don't want to have to send my computer away  !

Thanks

I received my 17" MacBook Pro the other day, and right from the start my '9' key has been very dodgy. Sometimes it registers a keystroke, sometimes not.

I've called Apple within my 10 days window and am arranging for a DOA replacement.

This is annoying because the turnaround time will probably be a couple of weeks.

It seems that these keyboards are not very well made.

bringing it to an apple store tomorrow! This thread was resurrected at a convenient time.

Hoping that they'll just replace the keyboard at the store, and everything will be fine! I'll let you all know.

Talked to Apple store as well

I also talked to an Aplle store today. I am taking mine in tomorrow as well. They told me they may be able to fix the one key and if not they will replace the keyboard. I will let you know what happens on my end as well.
