I wanted to clarify something. In Messages, if I send an MOV as an attachment to someone then delete the MOV in Messages, does it delete it from Photos?

So, Photos will retain the MOV even if I delete it from Messages?

I think it depends. If you attach a photo or mov that was originally inside the photos app and you link it as an attachment in iMessage then it would not be effected by deleting the iMessage Sent. In that case you are sending an actual copy of the file .

however, if you created the mov file in iMessage then the mov file would not automatically be stored in photos. So if you deleted it in iMessage then as it wasn’t saved in photos it would be gone.

Well, I created a video on my phone which it synced with iCloud and my video was in Photos. Then I drag it into Messages and sent it to someone. Next, I deleted the video from Messages and it didn't delete it in Photos.

I think Photos retains the video even though I deleted it from Messages.
