My wife passed away in 2016 and last year. I have a new girlfriend now and it’s time to move on.
That’s why I decided to delete my wife’s name from my contacts in my iPhone : whenever one of my kids called my mobile phone from the house, my wife’s name kept appearing, which un derstandably, made my girlfriend a little uncomfortable.
My wife and I obviously shared the same land line/house number, but deleting her name in my contacts didn’t solve the problem. I have my Google and iCloud contacts synced to my phone and have double checked that my wife’s name has been deleted everywhere.

Unfortunately, whenever I call the house or I receive a call from the fixed landline, my wife’s name keeps appearing. Very odd…
iPhone 8 Plus, latest version of iOS 13.

It sounds like you're asking about caller ID from your landline to your iPhone. It almost sounds like some weird caching of your landline number somehow on your phone. You may want to try doing an erase and restore to see if that resolves it. You could also contact your landline phone company about the caller ID.

First of all, nothing is ever truly deleted, at least when it comes to iCloud. I always have various items that were ”deleted” ages ago reappear from time to time. If, as Namara mentioned, it’s caller ID from your phone company you may have to go through them. But if it’s a Contacts issue, is that number in your contacts anywhere? Such as in your contact card? If so delete that card and then recreate it. I had previously changed some item under my contacts card in the past, home address, but for a long time the old address would appear in different settings even though it had been deleted or changed everywhere. Deleting my contacts card and creating a new one with my new home address corrected it. Some kind of corruption in iCloud contacts data I suppose.

Is your wife's landline phone in her name with the phone company (not your cell phone company)? Sometimes the name will appear with the number similarly to how the caller id will identify a telemarketer, etc. Have you tried calling another landline from your wife's landline to see if her name appears that way?

Her name only appears on my iPhone (and on the car's display, consequently) when I get a call from that home number (which is my home number). Same when I call home from the car, her name appears. My own name is in my contacts as well, obviously with the same landline number. Strangely, it never appears...
Think I might try the suggestion of removing my own card and create a new one. See if that helps...

Could be Siri Suggestions.

Settings > Contacts > Siri > Show Siri Suggestions for Contacts. Turn that off.
