Deleted file recovery options

Hi,

We deleted a 12GB DV File on accident that was a Wedding we were editing in my class at school. It got accidentally deleted to day and I want to know if you had any ideas as how we could get it back. We have since limited use of that computer to efforts to recover the file and the overall HD size is like 160GB, so....

I've tried VirtualLab but it needs to connect to the VL server but we have a firewall in place and it won't connect.

I've also tried Data Rescue by Prosoft Engineering, It doesn't seem to be a viable option as they claim their software cannot recover single files plus it takes forever for it to "search" the target drive for files. I can't say more than that about it but I could try it again provided w/ better info on using it.


Anyway, thanks for any advice you can give me.

That small antenna that came with the G5, thats for WiFi right? Well why is it that it doesn't work? Does it need some kind of special hardware installed internally or what? I mean why ship the box with the antenna if you can't use the wireless capabilites out of the box? If I can, please tell me how. Thanks!

You need an airport extreme card for wifi.

Data Rescue X is probably your best bet, just run it and wait it out. It takes a while, but it's worth it. I recovered an entire lost drive using it once.

Now, the chances of recovering that file are 1 in a million anyway.

With small, unfragmented files, recovery is usually somewhat easy. But the larger the file is, the less of a chance of recovery you have.. And a 12 GB file is, in my opinion, basically impossible to recover.

Have you tried Disk Warrior?

Being that it is such a huge file, I doubt the file is still intact or not overwritten.



as for your WiFi. You need an airport card.
