I think this is some sort of icloud glitch or I am doing something wrong, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

On all 3 of my macs (air, mbp, mac mini) there are 3 folders that re-appear every time I delete them in trash these 3 folders re-appear regardless of me emptying the trash on all of the devices.

I signed into icloud and these 3 folders are in the recently deleted area, I have deleted them from icloud as permanently delete but again like on the main machines even in icloud the file comes right back in recently deleted. Then I hit delete all, all 3 folders disappeared but again within just a minute or so they reappear in icloud recently deleted and of course are in the trash on all my mac machines.

I even restored the folders - emptied the folders, renamed the folders, went back to icloud i see the renamed empty folders, tried to permanently delete, tried delete all, I even left them and waited well over 30 days (thinking they would just drop off) but they will not go away and cannot seem to be removed.

I am stumped as to why this may be happening or what else to try or do to get rid of these now empty folders that keep appearing in icloud and in all my trash bins.

I wonder if one of your devices isn't syncing properly and is always putting them back into iCloud. Try turning off all your devices (including iPhones and iPads) and delete the folders from iCloud.com using another machine. Does it stay deleted then? If so, turn your devices on, one by one, to see which one is putting them back into iCloud. Be sure to check Recently Deleted in the Files app on your iPhones and iPads as well.

Are all three using the same version of Mac OS? I ask because when my late 2013 iMac with Catalina, it would have similar issues with my MBA running Monterey.

Any resolution here? I have 2 empty folders that pop back into the trash out of thin air ( I took a screen recording) after I empty the trash. They both have the little iCloud "download" cloud icon next to them.

I followed the above advice, turned off my other iCloud-synced devices, navigated to iCloud.com Drive and restored and then deleted (then "Delete Forever" from the iCloud.com trash) the files and it seems to have fixed it.

EDIT: They're back. It didn't work.

Anyone have a solution? I have 2 empty folders in my trash from iCloud that refuse to delete. They keep reappearing. I literally can see the trash go from empty to full in front of my eyes mere seconds after deleting them.

What are the folder names? Is it possible that you have an app on one of your devices that syncs using iCloud Drive, so every time that you delete it the app recreates the folders and files?
