Deleted gmail account won't go away

I deleted an old gmail account from Google and removed it from Mail. Every time I start up mail, it asks me for the password. I just cancel it and move on but I can't figure out where it is pulling it from in Mail.

Did you actually remove the account from "Mail->Preferences->Accounts"?

Try looking in System Preferences under Internet Accounts and see if it is listed there.
