Hey guys, my girlfriend has accidentally deleted all the messages between us and is having a breakdown. I say that like it's a joke but she has really bad OCD and with everything that's going on in the world I think this a bit much. Sounds ridiculous I know, but unfortunately it's true.

So, she deleted our entire conversation. Despite the fact I have the messages still and I can see them on the messages app on my mac, she wants them back on her phone. It provides her no comfort that I have them!

She does use iCloud to back up but is not technically good ... nor am I! We both don't seem to understand it.

When she logs onto iCloud on my mac (she does not have a mac or pc), none of her messages are there, like there's no option to even look at messages.

If she was to restore her iPhone from an iCloud backup, would that also restore the messages? It says her last back up was midnight last night when she went to bed.

It all seems high risk! Any more information you need to help, I'll be able to provide you with! Thanks a lot guys, I know everyones busy with actual problems at the minute but to her this is like a real problem :(

Ok update - I can see messages was not clicked as being an app under the iCloud settings.

But I am reading that they would be saved in the iCloud backup anyway. Is that correct?

Thanks guys.

Hey guys, me again! I’m just wondering if anyone has advice, it’s really affecting my girlfriend :(

if we set her phone up as a new phone and restored from an iCloud backup would that include the imessages?
Thanks so much.

You can give a restore a try - given that the backup hasn’t been overwritten with a newer backup. I would also recommend you talk to Apple support first rather than strangers on the internet.
