After a recent fresh install, I’ve noticed that deleted items from the main library, not playlists, are being deleted straight away and not going into the recycle bin.

I’m sure I’ve come across this before but cannot for the life of me remember what the solution was

Anyone help ?

This has started to happen again. Last time I just reset the warnings in preferences but this time it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Items are being deleted but don't appear in garbage on the iMac.

Checked the external drive and items have been removed.

I was going to update my thread from a few months ago so here goes.

Problem: deleted items from iTunes on Big Sur not going to trash but getting deleted.

I tried repairing Trash and permission on my external drive but problem didn't go away, or at least kept coming back.

Solution: occasionally Music and TV apps would create a blank library which I would always delete from the Media drive. However I did notice that two subfolders called " Automatically add to" Music or TV were present still. Once these were removed to trash, the problem disappeared.

I don't know why this would stop items going to Trash first before being permanently deleted but it would appear so far that this was the solution.

Just wanted to post in case any others were suffering this weirdness.
