I deleted my account from Mail under preferences/accounts thinking that it would just stop downloading messages for that emai account; however, it actually deleted all my messages from that account also. Is there any way to get these back or are they gone for good?

thanks.

Is this an IMAP or POP account? Your messages are probably still on the server either way, so just recreate the account and log in again. I imagine they'll appear right away.

I switched my ISP and the account was no longer valid. I thought that the messages were downloaded to my computer so I figured deleteing the account would just stop it from trying to check the invalid account. I didn't think it would completely erase all messages I had ever received on that email.

If you've not backed them up, and already cancelled your account, I'd say you're probably out of luck. They've likely already deleted your account. If not, I'd try contacting them as soon as possible to access them.

Good luck.
