Hello,

I was having issues with the speed of my MacBook, so I tried factory resetting it and accidentally deleted pretty much everything...

I tried reinstalling and it, but it kept failing at the very end, and after messing about even more I can’t even select a hard drive to install it now

Hopefully someone on here can help me as I truly haven’t got a clue how to fix this :(

I have attached an image of what I am seeing

- Select show all devices from the view menu as in the attached image to show all your drives.
- then erase the Apple SSD or HDD as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
- Exit Disk Utility and Select Re-install macOS.

Hi,

Thanks for your response,

The erase button is grayed out. The only options I can actually click are first aid and partition
 
I managed to reinstall, but once completed I keep getting these errors every time I turn on

Oh ok thanks! Any links to which you recommend? Will I be able to do myself or best take it to a shop? Thanks

According to the screenshot in your post #5, you have a 13" mid-2012 non-Retina MBP. This MBP uses a standard 2.5" SATA drive. You should upgrade to a SSD, but don't get it from OWC (the link in post #8) - they're overpriced. It looks like you have a 500GB drive. A 500GB Crucial MX500 is $70 from Amazon. A little bit faster is the Samsung 860 Evo at $80. If you really want to go all-in, the Samsung 860 Pro is $140. But IMO, it's not worth the $ to go much below the MX500 although just about any SSD of this type (SATA3 2.5") will work in your MBP. You should also replace the cable if replace the drive.

Take a look at the instructions at the following link. Replacing the drive is not difficult but it depends on the person.

All of this being said, I'm not totally convinced that it's the drive that's the problem. If you have an empty HDD you can spare, you can try installing on an external drive and see if it works. If it does work on the external disk, then either you internal disk or the cable is very likely (but still not 100%) the problem. If you have the same problem with the external disk, presuming you have high confidence in the disk, then there's something else wrong.
