Deleted Text messages came back

Last week I deleted all text messages from one person. About five days passed and that persons name had reappeared and all text messages were back. Anyone know how this happened? I don't remember exact wording but there was also a box right under the Call and Contact info that asked if
I wanted to restore more old texts. Does anyone know about this or had this happen to them? Also how did it happen? I'm still running 4.1.

If you synced your phone, then deleted them after the sync, once you sync your phone again any texts that were deleted will come back.
