Deleting a song from the Music app.. What is the point if it just re-syncs?

Why does apple give us the ability to delete a song from our ios device if it's going to sync right back the next time you plug in your device to a power source?

Tick the box in iTunes that says "manually manage music and videos'.

Oh ok, and then will the song be deleted from itunes? Or will it stay there but just not sync back?

It will stay in iTunes but not sync.
