I recently updated to Big Sur on my 2018 MBA. I am having trouble deleting emails in Mail. Previously (and on my 2017 iMac still running Mojave), if I was reading an email and was finished with it, I could hit the Delete key on my keyboard, and the email would close out and delete the message, taking my back to my inbox in one fell swoop. Alternatively, I could hit delete on my keyboard from the inbox list and the message would delete.
I now have to click cmmd-delete for this to work. If I click delete by itself, then the message reappears back in my inbox.
My keyboard seems to be mapped this way.
If I go to the Help menu under Mail and search for how to delete an email, I see this dialogue:
For some reason I believe that my delete key is mapped to the option for opt-delete. Clicking opt-delete for me uses the normal delete behavior.
How can I switch these? I tried using the shortcuts option through Keyboard Preferences, but either I'm doing it incorrectly or it isn't allowing me because I just get an error noise.
Thanks.
