i just discovered something i've not seen before; am wondering if this is not new, just new to me?

usually, i delete pictures. then, at some point, i go into 'deleted photos' and genuinely delete what's there.

tonite, i deleted some pictures from the main screen, and subconsciously hit 'command-option-delete'...and got a pop-up asking me to confirm deleting. i clicked 'delete', and... those photos are gone for real.

am i just late in finding this, or is it something new? just curious. just when i think i have everything figured out... there's a new discovery

On Catalina 10.15.7, pressing Command-Option-Delete simultaneously on a photo in the main library deletes it to the Deleted Items folder, but does not permanently delete it. Looks like a new feature to macOS Big Sur, perhaps?

actually, what happens is this, which is useful, even if it's not (?) new:

command-option-delete sends selected photos TO 'recently deleted'; command-shift-delete let's you completely trash what's in the 'recently deleted' folder... without having to leave the current screen.
