My M1 Mini is going to arrive in the coming days and so I now need to figure out an elegant solution to a problem with how I'm going to connect it to my set up.

At present I use two Dell P2419H monitors with a Dell docking station for a Dell laptop (Work, don't @ me) and so I want to piggy back on these for my Mini. When I connect my 2016 MBP I use one port for the docking station and another for a HDMI-USBC dongle.Obviously a MBP is much easier to lift and disconnect than a Mini and so I'm looking for a solution that works.

So far my ideas are:
  1. Dual HDMI adapted for the mini I can unplug
  2. USB C adapter I can unplug
  3. Use the Dell docking station to connect the displays with a DisplayPort cable and hope the Mini can connect this way.
Any alternatives I'm possibly missing?

Must you use the dock for the mini?

Can you not just connect the mini directly tot the displays using alternate input ports?

I'm not sure if I can because when I tried it with my Pro it would only mirror and not extend the desktop. So I'm not fully sure what the M1 will do. Effectively I'm hoping someone can point me to the dongles I need to buy before the Mini arrives.

Isn’t there a choice under the display set-up to mirror, or have two different screens? You probably already know that, but I just thought I’d point it out in case it is a simple fix. I’m running two Dell external displays on my 2015 iMac, and intend to run two displays on my incoming MacMini. Good luck!

There is but there's apparently some issue with the Dell docking station I'm using. How are you connecting yours?
