Hi there,

I was using an Apple Display and an old Dell 19-inch monitor hooked up on my M3 Macbook Pro and everything worked fine. I use a generic displayport -> USB-C cable, no dongle, comes displayport from the monitor and goes USB-C to the Macbook. Works perfectly. I tried the same setup with a new M4 MacStudio and only the Apple Display works. There's no signal to the Dell monitor. I tried all the USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, nothing. Did anyone face the same issue here? Why this setup only works on Macbooks?

Thanks for any help or insight.

What else is connected to the Mac Studio's rear USB-C ports?
Only the Apple Studio Display, nothing more. I've tested all the USB ports, they're working fine. But there's no signal to the Dell's monitor. If I plug the same monitor to my MBPro, using the same cable, it works.

I use one of these with a standard (good quality) DP to DP cable, with Dell Ultrasharp to M2 Studio.
I feel a cable to an adapter is better than a cable converting the connection.

Sounds like it won't…but does it work if you shutdown, disconnect the Studio Display and start up?

I suppose it doesn't show up in System Information>Hardware>Graphics/Displays.

Does it have HDMI?

Does the monitor have multiple inputs and did you set it to the displayport or the correct displayport?

I've had no problems connecting to USB-C, DisplayPort and HDMI monitors with my Studio to my Dell monitors.

If the Dell display has an HDMI port, try an HDMI (Mac) to HDMI (display) cable.

What is the model number of the Dell display?
