Dell monitor for MacBook Pro mid-2014

I currently have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) and need a monitor. I found these Dell ones but am confused as to whether the scaling would ruin the display? I have no knowledge related to monitors so would appreciate any advice. I'm likely to update my MacBook in the next few years so would really like to buy a monitor that's compatible with both. I also read about using a Mini-DP to help with Hz, is this something that would be a good idea? If not are there any other monitors you would recommend. I was reading this article which honestly just confused me more and the only options seem to be too expensive for my budget. It will mainly be used for work and coding.

The specs for my laptop are:

• HDMI video output
  • Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
  • Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
  • Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz

I used a 28” 4K Samsung monitor with my 2016 12” MacBook which also supported 4K at 30Hz like your MBP. I found it fine for day to day work, and only realised now when looking at the specs it was capped at 30Hz.

You should be okay unless you’re doing something where the 30Hz limit is going to be noticeable or cause issues for you. Is there a store near you that you can try out this or similar 27” 4K monitors before you buy?

Your MBP will drive that monitor just fine using the HDMI port at QHD 60Hz.
