So far super happy with the Dell P2715Q Monitor, I had it in storage as a spare and plugged it in via HDMI port.

Colors/contrast are great and super easy on the eyes. Text etc... very readable and no eye fatigue etc..

So far this is gonna be my standard monitor for future Mac minis for the the rest of the office. Dell has a U2720 line but I don't know how comparable it is the the 2715.

You want IPS monitors for the best quality and its important not to skimp since it can make the difference between being tired from working a few hours to not at all.

I had a look and it looks very close to the U2718Q (I have three of them on my desk). This appears to be Dell's upgrade path for your display. The main external difference is that the 2718 has thin bezels. There are reviews on Amazon comparing your monitor and this one and the LG midrange that's a natural competitor.

So you didn't have any issues plugging in via HDMI with 4K60Hz? That's great. I have 2 P2715Q's that I'll be using so will have to plug one in via DisplayPort and the other via HDMI. I've only used DisplayPort with these monitors, so I was hoping there wouldn't be any issues using HDMI on one of them instead. My mac mini comes in a few days, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

There is a difference. The P-series is a 'cheap' series, whereas the U-series is the Ultrasharp monitors. The Ultrasharps are calibrated to outstanding color values (the blacks: not so much, and the lighting uniformity could be better), but they are very good in color. The P-series, as far as I know, are not from the same quality. In addition, the U-series feature the 4-sided borderless design, while the P-series still have the thicker 'chin' or thicker bezels. the 2715 has thick hard plastic bezels all around, whereas the 2719 or 2721 models have small (5mm) and flush with screen bezels.

By the way, the '21' in 2721 stands for the model year. the 2715 is from model year 2015 (might have been introduced in 2014).
I'm working on a U2719DC, which has a 1440 resolution on 27" and has USB C, including the possibility to charge a MacBook up to 65 watts. The current monitor you'd want would be the U2721DE.

I think the comparable monitor from the U line would be the U2720Q or U2720QM, which are both 4K not QHD/1440p. The updated version of the P series is now the P2721Q.

I run at "Looks like 1440p" or higher. "Looks like 1080p" is a little too big for my taste.

I upgraded to the U3219Q and its jaw dropping nice. I don't have issues with blacks/uniformity. 32 is even better because less scaling and you get much more room for windows. Mini has no issues driving it via HDMI 4K 60hz.

What is surprising is how cool this monitor, no heat generation etc.

Hi! Can you please confirm you're using it with the new M1 device? I'm going to buy U2720, but I wanna be sure it will scale normally with M1. I mean, the display settings will look like this (with HiDPI) :

not like this (without HiDPI):

On my current U2520 I see settings like on the second picture. And if I scale it to 1080p I see fonts blurry like:

I can confirm that my U2720Q scales normally as you say with my M1 Mini using a USB-C connection. It’s an awesome combination.

Great! Can you please share a screenshot of Display settings with checked "Scaled" checkbox?
It will help me a lot!

Just curious, OP: does this monitor have the option to be mounted vertically, in portrait mode?

I was using the monitors on an x86 mac but should be able to test on an M1 in a few days.

Can you check the monitor OSD to see whether the color mode is RGB or YPbPr?

M1 Macs seem to want to output in the wrong format sometimes, particularly to Dell displays. Causes subtle but annoying color issues.

Thank you in advance.
