Hi,
I'm an IMac newbie, so please excuse me if this is "old" information. However, I've done a lot of searching and can't find a "simple" solution. Maybe there isn't one. Again, please excuse me if this is dumb...
Just got a new 27" IMac. I have a Dell AIO 966. I know now there is no OEM driver. But, I thought there was a Lexmark driver model (that might show up in the OX 10 install process I could substitute, or a Generic driver. So far, no luck. And frankly, some of the things I am reading when I search are either old, old posts or too complex for me.
Is the simple answer, "get a new printer?" Or, is there a usable driver loaded into OS X? Is there a thread or post that I am missing?
Thanks...

I had an early Dell printer (bought when the first entered the printer market with Dell branded Lexmark printers). Then we bought our first Mac. Dell not only used slightly different ink cartridges (Lexmark ones were keyed differently), the OS X driver for the "identical" Lexmark would not install because they verified a Lexmark printer was attached.

Sounds like things haven't changed. I looked at it this way -- the Dell printers were being sold as accessories to Dell computers. No effort to have them work elsewhere, especially on a Mac.

Giving up...

Sounds right. Dell printers appear to be made for Dell alone. Well, I give up! I ordered a new printer from Apple who gave me a very good deal. The move from PC continues to look like the right move.
