I have the Dell U2518D on an MacBook 16" connected with HDMI 1.4 with the Satechi hdmi adapter. Mac recognizes it propably as TV and gives YCbCr colour space. Tried a solution to force RGB and worked. But still not the best text resolution especially in small letters. Tried some other solutions except the DP cable, but no results. Changing resolution helped a little bit but it seems like its not the perfect monitor for macbook 16". i'll post soon na update.

I'd go for the USB-C models, you can get last years model quite cheap.

I've been buying a lot of 27" Dell display's at work for the past 5 years. Overall they offer great value, however the panel quality varies a lot even on same display models, especially on uniformity.

But Dell support is pretty great and they will send you a replacement if you have issues.
