Can the mac mini i7 fluently drive a dell u2713h? Lots of multitasking, also 1080p movie viewing. A friend (hardware geek) said bandwith or so could pose probs.

Also like to connect logitech z4 speakers, logitech c910 webcam, logitech mouse t620. In doubt please tell so.

Type "2713" into the Search Forums box at the upper left corner of the screen to get plenty of good information about using this monitor with a Mac mini. After executing the search I clicked on the Mac mini specific results to yield information related to your question.

The information that I just found suggests that you can use one at max resolution but that a second u2713h display would be limited. I am not sure what your HW geek friend meant about bandwidth. An i7 mini should not break a sweat even when you multitask and view 1080p movies at the same time. Does your system have some other limitations? Which i7 model do you have?
 
It is a marvellous display for the Mini, better than a TB one, yet for your purpose I would get the simpler and cheaper brother the U2713HM.
U2713HM: sRGB, 24p support (for movies)
U2713H: AdobeRGB/sRGB switchable with 3D lut (for graphic pro's). 30 bit colour under Windows.
Both: 2560*1440 IPS, pivot/tilt/height adjustment, 3yr warranty, matte screen, mini DP for perfect Mac connection (no bandwidth problems).

The U2713H allows you to connect a second TB display (original Apple only) as daisy-chain display for a maximum of 2x2560x1440(+1x1920x1200 display on a 2011 Radeon Mini)!

And the power needed to drive all this GPU wise, is totally not a problem either. The first Mac Pro's drove 2x30 inch 2560x1600 displays on a lousy 7300GT by Nividia. That GPU is like 1/10th the power of a HD4000.

I would be careful about getting the HM version. It often has excessive backlight bleed (and I am not talking about a little bit here and there, but really obvious big chunks of the screen).

I tried the HM first, and couldn't stand it. After a few days I rang Dell and swapped for the H version, which has no bleed problems, and I have no regrets about spending the extra money, worth every penny.

do you have a u2731h hooked up to a mini? Because I just read on the forum the intel hd4000 has probs with a dell u2414h. it's not the u2713h, but got me worried.

Well I haven't bought the mini yet
but I must admit I'm scared that apple will do all it can to **** it up again
did read that the good soul on the link had reposted a new version
buying the mini would be the most economical option but I don't like the idea apple doesn't support third party screens any longer. I called apple today. They said they don't support anything but apple...

What we need to do is force RGB. The solution may be found in this blog here: http://www.ireckon.net/2013/03/force...ternal-monitor

Note: I recommend you use the universal fix that works for all monitors.

Essentially, what you will be doing is running a ruby script in Terminal and then placing the newly created folder in/System/Library/Displays/Overrides, thus overriding the EDID of the monitor. (Don’t worry, it’s easier then it sounds, )

When you go to “About this Mac” /System Report/System Displays you will see RGB now being correctly sent to the monitor.
