I'm also looking for a 24" display, and while H-IPS and LEDs are nice, they aren't must haves. No one turns brightness up anyway, it 's always way too bright. i had an LCD for 6 years and the screen is bright as i ever want it to be still. The things that kill the ACD are the reflections and the mini displayport. no converter exists if i want to attach it to a PC and i might want to hook the display up to my xbox one day, no can do with the ACD.

? Sorry to burst your bubble but the "no one turns brightness up anyway" is dead wrong

Both my Apple LED's are on full brightness , as is my Imac and the one before - Macbook Pros of mine and my wifes also

So are all the Imacs and Apple displays at the offices of the several clients we have that use macs also.

i can't imagine where you are working, i just turned my display up to full and it really hurts my eyes. the same with my old imac. i usually keep it at 3 squares. maybe you are in the sunlight?

my .02

My current favorite display is the Samsung 2343BWX. 23" - 2048x1152. Anti-Glare and can be picked up for around $250 on sale at frys. Dell also has a version with integrated webcam for around $300. The dot pitch is so high and the black levels are so good - the image looks better than the on the Dell 3007 WFP-HC sitting next to it.

I would suggest this over any display in the category. I know - the panel type is not S-IPS. But.. As I said. the image is much better than my Dell S-IPS.

I currently have both Dell 2408 and want to get a ACD to use on my PC.
The Dell is a good monitor for general use but for color accuracy it sucks.
I was hoping that the ACD would work on my PC but I guess for now, I can't get one :(

Apple Please make the ACD with multiple inputs on the next revision.
Or at least make some adaptors.

...and i'm assuming your saying that AFTER you've tried calibrating the monitor with some hardware device such as a HUEY??

I'm not sure what the OP will be using these monitors for but the dell's are awesome. I have two 2408wfp, one refurbished and the other brand new. They both have zero dead or stuck pixels and I'm pretty happy with the accuracy of the color after I calibrated it with a spyder2 express.

That said, the monitor is pretty bad out of the box and you'll definitely want to calibrate it. I first tried using just my eyes but I'm not skilled enough. Also I'm running my displays at 20 brightness because max (100) brightness is just too much.

If you do go with the apple display, you won't be sorry except for your wallet. I couldn't use the monitor because of where my computer set up is and it would set up too much glare, plus I didn't like it at max brightness. But I must say when I used it at night, it looked beautiful.

I didn't know how bad the 2408wfp was until I saw this thread. I purchased it in 2008-2009 to use with a 1.83gz Mac Mini. I left that setup with my family and at my place I have a 2.53Ghz Mac Mini that I'm using a Dell U2410 with.

However I want a dual monitor set up here at my place. I'm debating on either getting a cheaper 20" monitor and leaving that at my family's and bringing over that 2408WFP (they don't use the computer much anyways). Or, if the 2408WFP really isn't that good, just leaving that there and getting another monitor like the Dell U2713HM 27" 2560x1440p LED Monitor. There was a deal for it for $559 on Amazon. If it falls to that price again, I was thinking of getting that monitor and doing that monitor along my 24" as a dual monitor setup.

Any thoughts on these monitors playing nice together? can they be calibrated to display the same? I don't do any gaming so any lag issues don't concern me.
