This monitor popped up on Dell's page for ordering. It was announced some time ago, but looks like it's available now.

According to the specs, they list the Mac as being supported. It has dual 1.2 display port to support 5k, and comes with two mini-display port to display port adapters for the Mac to drive it at 5k.

I'm guessing it treats the monitor like two displays? Wonder how that will work in Yosemite now that dragging from one window to another, makes half the window transparent. Hopefully there will be a software update from Apple that makes it so this doesn't happen with the display.

This user manual for the monitor is online:

UP2715K User Manual

It is actually entirely possible that if OSX supports DisplayID 1.3*, which apparently it likely does since that's where MST is specified, that this might be plug-and-play once you plug the two cable in.

*note: DisplayID 1.3, not DisplayPort 1.3

I want one but not at that price, I will wait for the prices to fall and knowing Dell they will within 3-6 months.

Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh as I'm a Dell monitor fan...

native 5k on a 27 inch is comical. I enabled it on a 27inch retina imac at the store. It's Impossible to do anything at that resolution

I'll take that 5K in a native version if someone is willing to make one. About a 50 incher would be about right. At 14.7MP that would add a lot of screen real estate to my 8.7MP triple monitor setup and take up less desk space.

I'm wondering if it's as laughably tiny as when entering the Windows product key during a bootcamp install on a MBP 15 Retina. I have to get the magnifying glass out to make sure it's correct :D

5k would be good at 37" or 40" MAX

Yeah, I tried that as well. It's tiny. However it looked incredibly sharp at any HiDPI setting I tried including 3200x1800 which I found usable, and of course, best for retina at 2650x1440 was stunning.

I've ordered a pair of Dell's new 27" 4K displays, but I think I'll replace them with 5K one day... when I have a computer that can drive two (not sure if nMP can) and the price is sub-$1000 each. Right now, 5K is just a bit too bleeding edge.

Yeah, I'm not sure that means much, as LG claimed the same thing for their new 31" 4K2K display and it was a gong show on the Mac. On the other hand, Dell support has explicitly made numerous points in the past of not testing or supporting their displays on the Mac so maybe this is a step in the right direction.

I don't think the intention is for people to run it at a 1:1 native resolution. But to run it at a 2:1 Retina resolution 2560x1440. It would be the same resolution as the current 27" Apple Thunderbolt display, but in retina mode.

Just received mine...
Plug & Play with macbook pro 15 retina (2014) and it's 5K@60hz!!!! Awsome!
