Just wondering if anybody tried using the Win XP install disk that ships with Dell computers for Boot Camp on their mac. I'm in the market for a Mac, but would need to run windows from time to time - it'd affect my decision if I somehow have to purchase a new copy of XP.

The disk I have does say that it is for Dell computers, and I heard somewhere that Windows can check the computer hardware configurations and reject the installation if it is different. Anybody tried using the Dell windows disks?

Not legally no you can not. If one were to not care about legalities and wish to steal it then yes it is possible.

It seriously works!!

My dell broke down couple days ago:(, so I tried installing windows on to my mac with the extra disc that dell gave, and it worked! The disc itself is just like any other Windows disc. :) I just reused the Windows key on the dell and it's still running fine.

lol, thanks for the feedback. I assume you had to go some round about routes to activate it. Or maybe I'm just crazy and should just give it a try and report back after I get my mac in a few months :p
