Dell XPS 13" 2in1

Was walking around Best Buy last night and came across this laptop:

Now, I have a 2016 12" rMB that is working wonderfully. I have had mac since 2006. I went to try this laptop and was VERY impressed with both design and function (my uses are light). I porbably wouldn't even use tablet mode that much, but it seems to offer more than the 12" rMB in everyway minus the OS. However, I could get used to Windows.

Anyway, anyone have this laptop or experience it in person?

We have a few of the XPS 13 (non-convertible but with touch screens) at work and it seems to be well liked. I have not used one personally.

Thinking the same as a replacement for my 2015 Retina MackBook, trading off a level of portability for a significant boost in usability & feature set, my only caveat is similar to the Retina MacBook the XPS 13" 2 in 1 is limited to the lower performing passively cooled Y series CPU.

Am also looking at ASUS's ZenBook 3 as options include i7 CPU and 16Gb of RAM, better keyboard which is equally attractive, however 16:9 display aspect ratio. Retina MacBook has the 16:10 display and macOS, however with zero advancements since launch, and little expectation of anything more than a minor CPU spec bump for 2017.

Competition is simply now far more compelling & aggressive with OS X's edge diminishing with every major update, add in Apple's rather humorous pricing model. As another thread stated Apple needs to do better, my 13" solution is now a Microsoft Surface Book, 12" is also now hedging towards Windows 10 hardware, 15" is pending.

Once I was 100% Apple both personally & professionally, very far from that these days...

I would rather recommend the XPS 13 classic one. This 2;1 doesn't make sense on a lot of levels for the same price you get the surface pro 4 with similar specs, better cpu i5U and a much better screen plus a 4;3 ratio.

The classic XPS 13 is nice but dells support sadly is lackluster

Whew, I *love* this laptop; but that's a tough one - having the webcam at the bottom of the screen chassis.

I don't want people to think that I have my nose stuck up in the air at them all the time! Hahaa

Yeah I felt the same way. However I never use the webcam which is why I could care less about the crappy one for the 2016 rMB.

This Dell is faster from what tests have shown though. I also was considering leaving apple altogether for a bit just to change it up with an s8+ purchase.

That is one of the common complaints about the XPS, and I agree. Its a bummer that they placed the camera where they did, so its basically looking up your nose.

I don't use video calls/conferencing so while it is a negative, it has no impact on me.

I can't go without my video calls; maybe Dell will redesign the XPS by the time my MBPro dies.
