I did exactly the same thing with a HR 15.2" powerbook last month. To be honest I was over-joyed, the powerbook handled it magnificiently. The right-hand side was bent all out of shape none of the ports were accessible, but the screen is fine and the hard disk (but more importantly the data on it) was perfect.
The machine is still working but obviously I've lost the warranty and I'm worried if I drop it again it will push it over the edge. I was covered by my insurance and I'm just waiting for a replacement to be shipped, shame it's a MBP and not a HR Powerbook, but, I'd have to do the Intel transition sometime.
It's like a car, if i'm in an accident, I don't care what happens to car, it can be a mangled wreck, that's what insurance is for. I just want the vehicle to take the pain and leave whats inside in one peice.
