Design for LHS

Im 14, starting my first year in high school and I found myself a client at lynbrook high who wants a T shirt Design for the color guard team.
I was wondering if the design would violate any copyrights, specifically West Side Story whose cover's design I based the Typography on.
I have become very copyright conscious since my first clients last year.

Not being able to see the design makes it hard to offer any real advice.

I will say if your design is simply a typographical treatment using different words, and not an outright steal of existing artwork, it's probably fine.

If you are just the same or similar typeface and arrangement but not the exact wording you should okay. Please post so we can see.
