So, in Monterey all I can get is the one picture for a desktop background....can anyone suggest where I can get more of these great pics so I can have a slideshow sort of thing?

I am guessing they would need to be formatted for Monterey??

Yeah there are the wallpapers (already had a look in prefs), but they are not pictures! All I can get is the default one for Monterey (which I assume is the Monterey coast??) checked, sorry it is Big Sur

What do you mean that's all you can get?
It's the only real picture, oh I discovered that Catalina is also a real pic...the other stuff there is stylised images...I would also like the phots to cycle, like every 30 minutes or so but haven't managed that trick yet :)

It's pretty simple (not really a "trick", it's a standard setup for Desktop Pictures)
Put pictures of your choosing into a folder. (several different formats can be used. JPEGs work just fine)
Put that folder in your user/Pictures folder.
Choose that folder from the System Preferences/Desktop & Screensaver pane, then the Desktop tab.
You will see that pane now shows you the choice to set Change Picture - so you would need to check that box. Then, choose the time drop-down to 30 minutes.
And, now it will cycle through all the pictures in that folder, switching to another picture each 30 minutes.
There you go...!

and I used to use another one, but believe it’s really no longer being used and can’t remember now what it’s called. Haha
