In System Preferences/Desktop, I choose "Change Picture" and "Random Order". But every time I restart, it reverts to the default Sierra picture. Any ideas on how I can get my preferences to stick?

I'm curious, do you store your pictures on an external drive?

That's what I do, and mine also resets to the default image after restarting.

try putting an alias of the folder that has your pictures in the Pictures folder in your home folder, then go to system preferences, and point to the alias there...

I have the same issue, but I'm running EL Capitan still.

If you untick 'different displays have separate spaces', it seems to fix the issue (for me at least).

But, I need separate spaces.

I've also seen it suggested to delete Finder preferences, so you could give that a go, however it didn't work for me.
