i keep seeing people's desktops with like, calenders and clocks on their desktops, not dashboard. how do i get these?

and some may use konfabulator, or yahoo widget engine which is what it is now.
also if you did a nice search of the site you would be able to find out a way to make widgets from dashboard stay on your desktop

you can move a dashboard widget to your desktop by dragging it there.
when you activate a widgert in dashboard, keep it "DRAGGED", deactivate dashboard (F12 or whatever you use) and then release the widget. it will stay on your desktop until the next time you activate dashboard, at which point it will be " sucked away" back into dashboard.
