Found this in relation to system requirements

"Windows OS: Windows XP or newer
Linux OS: Any recent Linux distribution with a 2.6 kernel
2 GHz Core2Duo or equivalent
512 MB RAM
100 MB HDD space for files
GPU (SoftRasterizer): Anything that displays an image
A brain"

Overall the i5 is a very nice processor even the low voltage one in the MacBook Air but I don't have any personal experience with DeSmuME. The i5 1.6ghz would hopefully be enough to offset a 2 ghz core2duo requirement
