Hey,
My iphone is coma toast right now!!

Itunes will not recognize my phone, all my computer notices is the usb input, itunes does not recognize it and neither does my iphone.

I kept getting a screen showing up on my phone with the itunes icon and a picture of the cord below it, when i'd connect to itunes.... nothing

NOW I get a screen with a dead battery and a lightning bolt signaling a charge, but my PHONE WONT CHARGE!!!

I have tried restarting, it goes straight to the same dead battery screen. When I disconnect the phone from the wall charger it doesnt even restart, the screen stays black and you can faintly see the battery in the background.

Last night in iTunes I chose the 'sync and erase' option because it said my phone was synced to another computer (I dont know if this is necessary to say Im just telling you everything because im a lost cause with tech stuff:confused:) The sync was interruptted.

I also upgraded the software to the iPhones newest 2.2.1? I believe it is?
After the software finished dowloading the pop up window stated that it was installing the software to my phone. Less than a minute later it said there was an error in installation.

This is when I got the itunes icon and usb connect screen, and now the dead battery, lightning bolt screen!

My iPhone is unlocked, im running the latest version of iTunes on a PC using Vista.

PLEASEEEE HELPPPPPPPPP!!! :mad::mad::mad::confused:

Step 1. Turn off your iPhone.

Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.

Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.

Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that its in restore mode.

Alternative Method:

Step 1. Connect iphone to USB then listen to the sound when it connect and disconnect.

Step 2. Hold the home and power buttons until hear the disconnect sound then release power button.

Step 3. Wait until you hear another sound then release home button.

ahh too late, beat me to it above poster

The DFU proceedure is not working.

My phone will not turn off or on so it will not restart!!

It continues to be stuck on the very low battery, lightning bolt screen, when I disconnect the phone it says it needs to be connected to a power source.

thank you for your help!

im afraid to take it to apple because its unlocked, my warranty is void.

no, I charged it all night and nothing!

but if i disconnect it from the power source the battery loses the red going empty and the charge plug appears beside the lightning bolt!

you dont have many options there apart from when you have it on charge via the wall, try and hard reset it with the power and home buttons held together simultaniously for 5 secs or so. If thats not an option then youll have to go to the Apple Store

Looks like we have ourselves a brick here, ladies and gents.

OP, did you do any research before clicking "update"? There's warnings and step-by-steps for upgrading unlocked phones all over this forum and others. Very unfortunate this is happening. Apple's gonna shrug their shoulders, say sorry, and tell you to move on.

Well, maybe the good news is that it won't turn on, so with any luck the Apple store won't be able to tell that you unlocked it. Maybe if the upgrade failed part way through it's not unlocked any more anyway. Maybe they'll just accept it's the power circuits that are broken and replace it.

I know that's a lot of maybe's, but you may as well try taking it back because it sounds like you have nothing to lose. Just don't tell them you unlocked it when you ask for the exchange :)
