I have been calling the 3 Detroit area Apple stores and several area Best Buys for the last 10 days and there is nothing in stock. I live in Canada so reserving in store is not convenient and I can't have it shipped to my home. Any tips on Detroit area stores that sometimes have stock or when is a good time of week/day to check?

Thanks

Just a guess that production is centered around the 3G and building stock for Euro launch. If you are that "desperate" why not just come down on Fri and get a 3G? I'm perfectly happy w/ my WiFi, but if I were in your situation, the 3G would look damn tasty right now.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Unfortunately with people reserving instore, stock will be limited for walkups.

In-store stock appears to have dried up all over the country. I snagged one of the last iPads in my area from a BestBuy, and had to drive over an hour away to do so.

I would not expect much change until the release of the 3G iPads Friday at 5:00pm in Apple Stores. Worth a try if the travel time is not too bad.

There are a lot of unboxed iPads on sites like eBay which are not going for too high a premium anymore. Less if you get a barely used one from someone who is upgrading.
