iPhone Dev Center just posted iOS 8.1.1 GM - Jailbreak now or may be a long wait!

Apple just posted the GM 8.1.1 in the Dev Center. If you have any desire to JB, now is a good time to do it, as likely Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of this week Apple will stop signing 8.1 when 8.1.1 is pushed to the masses. At that point, if you jailbreak 8.1 and something goes wrong, you can't restore back to 8.1 and thus will lose your ability to JB.

My advice, jailbreak this weekend if you have any desire to!

All I see in the developer portal is 8.1.1 beta, released November 3, build number 12B432. No GM.

Woah... weird. It's gone now. I'm guessing there were errors in the notes, seen that happen before where they post and pull then post... or maybe their intention is just to push it out to the public, .1 releases don't usually have "GM" releases.

I've decided not to bother with JB on the iPad this time around. I'm really hoping the next release or two fixes a bunch of the more annoying 8.1 bugs, and I can live with stock a bit longer on that one.

But my new iPhone 6 arrived last night. And even though I thought I might do the same with that one...nope. Oddly enough, I cannot stand not having five items in the dock. Funny how much of my workflow revolves around that one thing! So yeah, need to do a clean restore on it and JB it this weekend to make it usable.

For me I look at someone with the stock 1 inch by 1 inch icons and I cringe, looks like a child's toy. I go 5x7 now on my 6 and it's perfect.

I agree. What do you use right now to rid yourself of the dock background? EDIT - I just installed DockShift and it removes the background on the dock. Disregard

I too miss BiteSMS. Nothing like getting a text on my iPhone 6 and typing a paragraph in a text quick reply then having another text come in and completely erase the text paragraph I just was finishing. Ugh. If that's not a glitch I don't know what is. You gotta wonder if Apple is really testing their implementation, or just stealing ideas and hoping they work.

Are you sure? I've looked elsewhere and this is the only mention of this happening today. Not saying you're lying, just surprised that no one else would have noticed this and mentioned something

I didn't say it was being released today, I simply said between them no longer signing the beta, and the brief showing of the 8.1.1 GM, it's highly likely we're in the last couple days of being able to restore to 8.1, and simply recommended that those who want to JB without fear of not being able to restore to a jail breakable iOS should do it now... because regardless of if apple releases it today, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, we all know it's imminent.

Oh no, I definitely get that. I was just asking if you're sure it was the GM you saw listed today, or perhaps it was just the first beta.

I'm guessing they probably posted it in error, because normally a x.x.x update doesn't have a posted GM, they just post the beta and all goes fine and they either fix issues and post another x.x.x beta, or release it. These minor updates usually are fine out the gate, so there aren't multiple iterations (except in the case of 8.0.1 lol). My guess is they didn't intend to post it on the site, and it was so brief that I only noticed it by chance.

I'd be willing to bet 8.1.1 comes Monday or Tuesday to an iTunes near you!

Either way the window of opportunity to restore to clean 8.1 is closing by the day so whoever wants to jb needs to hurry and not wait till last minute.
Apple can release 8.1.1 and stop signing 8.1 right away.

Yea, it's coming.. I was thinking of selling the 6 plus that I have, as its still sealed, and I bought a 6, which I like for its size. I need more posts to get access to the market place thread. I'm done with ebay and iphones. I had a bad experience when I sold the our old iphone 3g many years ago. The a$$hole bought 2 other 3g's from 2 other people, 8 gigs.. He buys my 16gb, and says he wants a discount. I told him no, as that's a fair price. This a$$hole goes to paypal, and tells them the audio jack is broken, after he tells them he paid too much. Im like really? So his time to respond to paypal finally ran out, and they closed the dispute. What a d1ck. Just to make up some bs excuse so I can lower the already low price, to what he paid for an 8gb. Wtf is wrong with people? Anyhow.. sorry for ranting. That 6 plugs I spoke of needs to be updated to 8.1, before the signing stops. Decisions.. Decisions...

You're exactly right. That's the reason I have not sold the phone.
