I think this new beta delivery system is still a work in progress. I figured it would be ready for iOS 17 but apparently not. Seems to be hit or miss.

AppleSeeders have these options below. I’ve never been a developer but I could use that option, the results would be the same but we were told to use the AppleSeed option.

No clue what Appleseed is but I just show

IOS 17 developer Beta
IOS 16 developer Beta
IOS 16 Public Beta

Doubt I’ll upgrade yet but was just curious

AppleSeed was/is an Apple invitation beta testing mechanism. Our updates are essentially the same as the developer ones but previously we were told to use the Customer Beta option which has now changed to AppleSeed. But using the developer option would still probably result in the same download and installation process. I’m assuming you’re not showing the ios 17 Public beta option as that doesn’t get released until much later on. But the developer option should work if you decide to proceed. Unfortunately this whole process has been made quite confusing as I’ve seen similar questions in multiple posts both here and on our dedicated AppleSeed discussion forums.

Nice to know. Thank you for the explanation

On a lark, I went into software update in the settings app. I see that I am able to install the iOS 17 Developer Beta. I am, nor have I ever been, and developer.

If I have a developer account now (and it expires tomorrow because I’m not renewing) does anyone know if I’ll still be able to receive the future developer beta updates for iOS 17 if I update today?

My developer profile expired on Sunday. I didn’t renew and I can still download the beta if I want to as the option is available for me.

Still haven’t decided whether I want to yet.

Everyone seems to have this option for now.

iOS 17 is essentially iOS 16.7. Its so light on new features, you won't see a huge difference if you insall the beta. If you have a spare device, go for it, but otherwise, don't bother with it, after 10 minutes you'll already see all you have to and now have to deal with bad battery life.

Funny... I just installed DB 17 on a whim (iPhone 13PRO) and find my battery life is as good or possibly better than 16.5.

I did uncover an odd bug though where sending an SMS (to a non-Apple recipient if it matters) re-populates the input box with a duplicate of what I just sent as soon as I touch SEND. I have to erase it before I can send a new text ;) I can't reliably duplicate it (yet) or I'd report it.
