I finally get my MBP 16/512 sometime this week, replacing a 2014 base 15" MBP.

Now that we are weeks in...
How is performance of Xcode ? Large builds? Android Studio?
Any issues with key tools (Cocoapods etc....)

TIA.

Built a medium iOS project on MBP 8GB/256GB M1 - no issues, quick. Normally I use iMac Pro 10-core 64GB/2TB.

As you would expect Xcode runs great, apparently faster than any Intel MacBook. Android Studio runs under Rosetta 2 (well the JVM does), the issue is you cannot run the Android simulator so you would need to debug on a physical device.

If you are doing web or backend development there are some issues too. The brew package manager does not currently work. The bigger issue though may be Docker and Kubernetes. They do not run on M1 Macs.

The brew package manager does not currently work.

Actually homebrew works pretty well already, though it's not officially supported yet. Many brew packages work on Arm - actually, everything I've needed so far I think. For anything else you can install the x86 brew under Rosetta in parallel. And "brew cask" works too.

Xcode works well, and you can now build and run your iPhone/iPad apps on the mac, which may be a bit quicker as it's not limited by how fast it can install the app over the USB cable.
