I have some custom ringtones on my cpu at work that I want transfer to my iphone 7 plus and i am getting the following message "Cannot copy item the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected" I have the latest version of Itune's and the ringtones wont copy when i drag and drop them to itunes, they wont copy to my iphone and if i try to open or play with itunes nothing happens

If you don't mind spending a few bucks, Waltr 2 will allow you to easily add custom ringtones to your iPhone without having to go through ITunes.
I have been successful many times before dragging and dropping like you tried in iTunes. I have also been unsuccessful using the same files at different times in iTunes. Very frustrating.
I use Waltr 2 and it only takes a second or two to transfer to your phone. It has worked every time for me.
