I am a bit weary of doing the USB hack for my iMac, however, I thought one of the ways around it was a USB Hub.

I tried the one in my keyboard of the iMac, as well as another USB hub, but to no avail.

My iMac is fully updated to the latest software, and I am trying to jailbreak an iPhone 3G :(

Was it a powered USB hub? I've heard that some people can only get powered hubs to work. Mine is, and I've had no problems. Do you have another computer (without 10.5.6) that you can use to JB it?

can't be any cheapo usb hub. some don't have the power to get into proper mode. I had a cheapo $8 hub and it was crap. I went to staples and bought the 4 port Belkin powered hub and it worked on my first attempt. JB was done in 8 minutes

best thing to do if you want to go the hub route - is research these forums and buy one everyone else says works - and go get it at a store near you,

so if it doesn't work you can take it back!

i'd avoid editing kexts. doesn't sound like too much fun to me.

plus - an added benefit! if the hub DOES work (and you don't want it of course) take it back anyways!

did the same thing with a SATA USB 2.0 enclosure last week ;)

What types of Hubs do you guys recommend? I heard good things about the Belkin one, but if I were to buy this, I might as well use it right? ;-)
