Hey all my MBP is in China now, has been juggled between a few DHL facilities and still says it wont be in NYC until the 18th. Thats 11 days. I find that very hard to believe. My guess is it comes on the 13th or 14th. Has anybody else had DHL shipments on this round? How long did the process take?
I got a notification from Apple when it shipped last week. It said it would be here Friday then I got a notification from DHL that it would be here the following Tuesday. On Friday I suddenly got a message from DHL that the iMac was on the truck to be delivered “today“. I watched the DHL truck meander through 1 million neighborhoods and by the time they got to my front gate, the community gate house had closed and was unmanned with self service resources readily available. I had tried to supply the driver with a code, but the driver didn’t read it and account options for recipient were very limited…. He just said “not home” and took off.
Several calls to DHL hearing they don’t work weekends. They will come back on the same delivery schedule and try again Monday. They wanted my gate code. I told them it changes daily and could not give it to them right now (Friday night when they left)…
The long and the short - this DHL experience has been a nightmare and is not the customer experience I expect from Apple. I’ve paid considerably more for their products for over 30 years and own many.
Apple needs to to step it up and use a more reliable method of transportation once product gets from China to the US. I’d rather wait a day or two more than have to fight with several delivery attempts because DHL doesn’t deliver on weekends and loads up their drivers so much that they can’t deliver their route during normal business hours!?
DHL has poor customer service and drivers that don’t make an effort to deliver when the resources are there for them-at the very least a quick call to me and I would’ve had that gate opened remotely. They know that. Sorry for the rant I’m still waiting for my new iMac.
