Apologies if this should be found elsewhere, but the search drew a blank. Microsoft has given me the present of Copilot when I turn on Word (an unwelcome one). How do I turn it off or better still remove it?
Thanks in advance.

That article only turns Copilot off, does not remove it.
There is a note in that article:
Note: If you want a plan that doesn’t include Copilot, there is Microsoft 365 Basic or Office Home 2024.

It also says that you have to quit your MS App, then relaunch the app, so that Copilot will then be turned off (along with other features that are part of those privacy settings.

Are you saying that Copilot does NOT turn off after changing those settings, then restarting Word?

As I've run into this today with Microsoft's helpful 'update' pushed out yesterday, yeah. It turns it off but it continues to show the Copilot prompt next to every new line and gives the command tip with nothing on the page. Clicking it just brings up a reminder that you turned it off.

I fear we are all going to have to accept that this is as far as we will get to what passed for 'normal' with Office - a bit like Photoshop refusing to follow CMD+W and leaving a window open. So much for progress!

My 365 is up for renewal in May. I’ll be canceling it before then. Need to figure out how to export all of my OneNote stuff first.
