So when I open Diablo 2 I'll go to configure video to change the video mode from OpenGL to Software and run the resolution tests and finish it all but then it goes right back to OpenGL and thousands of colors as soon as I'm done. I keep trying to set the video mode to software but it just always goes back to OpenGL. Anyone got any advice on this? It would be much appreciated.

Try trashing it's preferences. They may not have the correct permissions, disallowing you to write your settings to them. To trash them do this
- Click the Finder icon in the dock
- From the Go menu, choose Go to Folder
- Type in "~/Library/Preferences" and click Go
- Search in this folder for a file called "Diablo II Preferences" and move it to the trash

Next time the game is launched and you configure your settings, a new file will be created (if you have access - and you should as you own that folder). Hopefully it will retain your desired settings.
