I downloaded the diablo 2 digital version from blizzard store and it downloaded and installed fine. when i try to play it says "please insert play disk"
i do not have the disc, which is why i downloaded the game...do i need the disk to play the digital version, if so...then whats the point of the download....

Well you might have to burn the downloaded .dmg (I assume it's a .dmg) onto a disk. Disk Utility would be a good program to use.

Can't you play the game without a CD with the latest patch from Blizzard. Check to make sure you have the latest version.

I downloaded the 1.12a patch for mac seperately as well, even though it is supposed to download with the game. still doesnt work...

Everything required to play the game should have been installed. There should be no reason that this error would show up. I'd try reinstalling it. After it's reinstalled, try running the application inside the installed folder.

How do i reinstall it? i dont even see an installer but when i look at the install log it says "successfully installed".

Installing Diablo II to "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/" on Tue Jan 1 11:23:06 2008.
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II (Carbon)".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/BNUpdate".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Data (Carbon)".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Patch (Carbon)".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Sounds".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Game Data".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Speech".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Graphics".
Installed file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II Movies".
Created a shortcut for the file "/Applications/Diablo II Folder/Diablo II (Carbon)" on the desktop.
Installation completed successfully.

(install log)

That's an interesting install log. It's missing the core file "Diablo II Music" which is why it asks for the Play CD. When installing by CDs, this file is omitted during the install to aid the CD check mechanism (it was always run off the CD) and it should have been installed with the download.

Did you have an options during the install process for a full install and this is just for Diablo II and not the Expansion, Lord of Destruction?

Also, to reinstall, just drag the installed Diablo II folder (the one in Applications) to the trash. You can then rerun the installer you downloaded from the store.

Woohoo! 10 points to you! :D i reinstalled it and got it working, thanks for your help guys
