Diablo II LoD won't work

I have a 06' 10.4.11 software MacBook. I've looked all over the web, and all of the complaints were from people who had version 1.5.3 and greater. I changed the video settings of the game to Software, and now I can actually see the title screen, but after 10 seconds of getting there, or when I click a button, Diablo just shuts down on me, and it doesn't even have the unexpected error pop-up at the end.

I also manually installed the LoD 1.12 patch and dragged it into my Diablo II LoD folder, but it still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
