Im wondering if anyone knows of a free software that allows you to dictate files vocally on microsoft word via the built in mic on a macbook. Anyone know of anything? What i mean is a program that allows me to speak and record what i say into text on word

Unfortunately, this is where macs are really lacking compared to windows. There is one speech recognition program for mac: macspeech, but I wouldn't recommend it. I tried to get it accurate, but never managed despite using high quality microphone and lots of training. The best software is Naturally Speaking 9 for windows - it requires minimum training, is superfast, allows fast changes, can be used to navigate the internet etc. I have an average of 99% accuracy dictating with that and it never stops impressing me. I run it under windows XP in parallels and it works almost as well as natively. Even Microsoft's own speech recognition technology built into windows is better than macspeech.

Hops this helps.
