Did 10.8.2 fix this in Safari...

Swipe back after you've read this post. My thread you just opened (this one) is now marked as "read" (unbolded).

This has annoyed me since 10.7.0. I guess Safari refreshes correctly now but I didn't notice this until 10.8.2.

MR denotes threads containing new posts you have not yet seen in "Bold".

Once you click them and go back to the thread list they are now being correctly displayed as "read". (i.e., no longer bold).

Did this change with 10.8.2 or perhaps the last Safari update? (I primarily use SL).

Where? In Forum Spy? Or in a specific forum listing? In Forum Spy, only the first post in a new thread shows as bold (except for an occasional glitch), whether you've read it or not.

Once you click them and go back to the thread list they are now being correctly displayed as "read". (i.e., no longer bold).

If you're referring to thread listings in a forum, it has always worked that way.

Not for me. Never could visually discern those threads I had opened vs. those I had not. Even though the progress indicator up in the address field would whisk blue, the page never refreshed for me.

I'm guessing 10.8.2 "flushed" some crap outa' my system then.

So you're referring to a forum listing like this, or a search like the last 24 hours?

Yep, that has always worked like that for me. Bold indicates threads with posts I haven't read. Once I read them, they're no longer bold, until new posts are made. I'm not sure why it wasn't doing that for you.

Well, ok then.

It never worked for me until I updated my external ML drive to 10.8.2 yesterday. Most likely a graphics glitch with my HD3000 and the update subsequently cleaned something up.

Prior to updating to 10.8.2, when I did a two finger swipe "back," it kept the page as it was before I clicked on a link. Now, after the 10.8.2 update, Safari refreshes the page and denotes the post as being read. It also updates all other threads to the most up to date position. (BTW, this is not limited to online forums, this occurs with ANY web page a visit and then go "back" to the previous page.)

I guess some like this, but I would prefer to control the refresh myself.

Any thoughts? I'm on a mid-2010 17" MBP with 8GB RAM and dual 512 SSDs.

Yes. This is what I'm talking about. Never refreshed the page for me prior to 10.8.2.
