I recently post my thoughts about keep a brand new 2012 MM I still have or sell it and buy a new 2018 MM ...

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-mac-mini-2012-vs-new-2018.2159850/

Before trying to sell the new 2012 MM I really would like to know where do the reported issues come from.

I do not have enough technical skill to solve related software/hardware issues altogether ...so, is it possible and/or did someone try to downgrade Mojave to High Sierra on the MM 2018 ? Does it work ?

From what I ve read - sorry, maybe its my falut - I can not evaluate if the problems come from compatibility Mojave/MM2018/T2 Chip/Non Retina Display/Ports or the Mojave only.
Thanks
All the best

You can’t run High Sierra on the 2018 mini. It requires a special version of 10.14 or later.

Not. Going. To. Work. 2018 Mini requires Mojave to boot.

Hmmm... it -might- be possible to install virtual machine software such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion (or even the free "virtual box"), and then install High Sierra into a "virtual machine" and run it that way.

Yes, you can definitely run older OS versions in a VM, back to Lion or even Snow Leopard (Server edition). Depending on what processor is in the new vs. the old Mini, it might even run it at a comparable speed to native installation on the older Mini.

Thank you chrfr, Fishrrman and FreakinEurekan....great inputs...researching here and there and only because my main using for the mini will be Logic in an audio workstation I will definitely put for sale the new 2012 Mini just for the hyper threading advantage and buy the new i7 minimum setup - even knowing the whole complicate stuff to solve later on like Non Retina issues on Mojave, I believe it will worth the effort and time to get all properly natively working.
All the best and great 2019 for all.

Logic works fine on Mojave. I upgraded to Mojave as soon as it came out on my retina 2012 and it worked fine with all my 3rd party plugs.

Also worked fine on the i9 15" ... if the mbp didn't have hardware issues.

If your only concern is Logic running on Mojave, don’t worry. Logic is made by Apple so they a very good at OS compatibility within their programs. You may encounter driver issues with some of your hardware or third-party plugins, but you’ll have to do some research. I use Logic on my 2018 mini and it’s totally fine! All plugins and virtual intruments work with my interface.

Not sure where this non retina/Mojave’s talk comes from. Use my Mac Pro 2010 with an old Apple LED Cinema Display 24” and looks fine.

Screeen share to my mm2018 which has a fit 4K headless display at 1920 x 1080 on the fit and again looks fine.

When hooked to my LG tv for initial setup then issues with display in that screen ran off the edge and top as opposed to being blurry etc.

Thank you Ploki & Jorbanead.. good to know no issues so far with Logic . I think the new mini is a lot audio focused when you can have - at least , partially - the best of both worlds - desktop and some portability combined with an Ipad. Maybe video/documentary is another area who benefits of the new i7 6 core setup too.

Macnallym, I ve got the info at Mojave forum...it seems the Non Retina issues is related to a new font display standard Apple implemented on it :

Anyway, if I only could get here some stuff like portable lithium power generator for field use I would keep the 2012 mini for some remote particular projects but it s just impossible.
I believe it s a good time to put on sale the old new 2012 mini to raise some fund to a get a new 2018 one .
Thanks
