Did anyone want iTunes on iCloud to be streaming rather than syncing?

Did anyone hope iTunes on the cloud would be a streaming service, rather than download and sync? With Steve Jobs being adamant that "people don't want to manage syncing" with the new Apple TV, this is where I thought iCloud was heading towards to. And if the reason is that it's going to be a strain on bandwidth for Apple, thats where I would also expect the new Time Capsule update, which also didn't happen. I'm talking about of course the rumor with your content being stored locally at home on your TC, then streaming it off that over the air to your iOS device or PC/Mac. I thought that was a good idea too.

I know there are those that wouldn't trust their content existing only in the cloud, but for those with low storage devices, say iOS devices and the new Macbook Air, I think it would make more sense.

And the only base that Apple hasn't covered yet are movies in your iTunes library. Apps on iOS devices are already backed up via iCloud so that's taken care of.

I for one didn't want a streaming service.

Streaming requires bandwidth, and while some people might be fine with that, bear in mind that lots of ISP (not just AT&T Wireless and later, Verizon Wireless) are placing caps and limits on how much data a customer consumes in a billing period... they would LOVE to have streaming services running, because it will make more people hit their caps faster, and then they can charge you to stream your own music.

In the long run, having storage locally and accessing your content from that will be cheaper than constantly streaming and re-streaming it directly from the cloud.

Besides... there will be times I'm going to be away from WiFi, and possibly even away from 3G wireless (like, on a plane), and I'd like to still be able to listen to music and watch movies and TV shows. And what about people in spotty AT&T coverage areas, or spotty Verizon or [insert carrier here] areas? What about people visiting other countries?

I think this is a good, happy medium. The "cloud" gets used to sync things quickly and easily, but you're not FULLY dependent on it to merely access content you already have stored.

What I'd like to see is, what they've done to solve the problem of different devices having different amounts of storage. I have full seasons of shows I bought and lots of music (all legal), and it all fits fine on my Macs, but will not all fit on my 32GB iPhone, and will barely fit on my 64GB iPad (so I choose not to sync it all on either device). So, can space be managed?
