iPod Did Apple do some kind of massive app removal?

Just as the title says.

I check the "All Free Applications" link in the App Store religiously, and I could have SWORN that yesterday there were approximately 43 pages or so of apps... now there are only 23.

Did Apple get rid of lots of useless garbage apps overnight?

Anybody else with me on this or am I just crazy because I got no sleep last night?

It's about time they culled some of those apps from the store.

I see only 24 pages now instead of 42 pages I seen a few days ago. The last 20 pages had crap apps if you sort by "most popular".

If anything this was probably necessary. I bet they removed apps with didn't fall within their new restrictions which seem to have gotten tighter more recently.
