Did Apple Ever Sell This MBP Configuration?

I've found the perfect MBP configuration for me but then I realized a small problem, all of the units I like are used. It also seems odd, that it is essentially a 2.16 GhZ system with a speed reduction

I don't really understand what your question is. This is the base model with upgraded RAM and hard drive...you can build it to order in the Apple Store, but it's also available as a quasi-stock model from a number of vendors in both new and refurb, as you have pointed out.

This model was available brand new a while back when they were first released. When they had the 1.83GHz available. They sell it at the Canada Refurb too.

Of course...duh. This was the stock 2.0 GHz model that was announced as a speed bump when they first started shipping in February. It lasted until the speed bump to the current line up in May.

I was wondering about that too. Since they don't sell it new anymore, and because it was a configuration used back in early Spring, would these refurbs still have the old MBP problems?

i would say that in the refurb process they switch out the logic board and take off some thermal grease

i bought one of these spec refurbs.

after undergoing "apple's stringent quality refurbishment process" mine was recieved with a whining cpu, and a high pitch buzzing screen invertor. the uppercase was a bit warped too.

its now in for its 2nd repair, and what will be its 4th logic board.
out of 7 weeks ownership its been in for repair for 3 weeks [and i still havnt got it back yet]

Wow, sorry to hear that. If that ever happened to me on a refurb, I'd raise hell with AppleCare.
